Time Out!
Know This…It is totally ok if you wave the white flag every now and then, call a “time out”, disconnect, pull the plug for a bit, or just “be still”. Whatever you want to call it.
One thing that has stuck with me as I have gotten older…and hopefully wiser…is that Jesus would very often retreat from everyday life, find a quiet place, and connect with His Heavenly Father.
Or…maybe He would find a momentary shady spot, kick His sandals off, then just sit and chill for a bit. A place where He could close His eyes for a few and listen to His barefoot self breathe. I mean, He was stuck in a human body, just like us. (Ponder that)
Jesus: Come with me by yourselves…
So, let’s be real. If Jesus needed, or chose, to momentarily retreat from the rigors of daily life, shouldn’t we also consider doing the same in our daily life?
Some days we gotta press through and just do what we gotta do. But there is no reward for being the most physically, mentally, or spiritually worn-out person on the planet.
When your day gets too hectic or too heavy, don’t be afraid to stop and collect yourself. Ask God for some Peace. It doesn’t mean you are weak. It means you are human.
…to a quiet place and get some rest. 1
Jesus is hands down the greatest example ever provided of how you are to live, love and forgive while you are on this earth. Jesus also took naps.
