By Faith
How did you do that? Two words…By Faith.
Pick a piece of your life—an accomplishment, a storm navigated, a mountain moved, something that was changed for the better over time. Now ask yourself, “How did I do that?” The foundation of the answer is likely, “By faith”. The question is…Faith in what?
It is easy, even natural, to place our faith in ourselves, especially when we are young. Believing we are the producers, overcomers, masters of our domain—piling up wins, and perhaps life’s treasures, like some little king in charge of a little kingdom.
Faith in what must become Faith in Who.
These are the times when a shift often happens. Our faith in what finally becomes our Faith in Who. Lives change when the source of Faith is no longer in ourselves or our abilities, but in a power much larger than ourselves, our abilities, or even this world.
Faith is no longer something we think we possess…but something we follow. (Read that twice)
We must follow our Faith…everyday.
Jesus…Who walked on water, cast out demons, raised the dead and defeated death…placed His Faith not in this world or even in Himself, but in God Who sent Him. And Jesus followed His Faith!
Just think if you were to ask Jesus, “Lord, how did you navigate this world and do all those things that are written?” I imagine His answer would be…“By Faith in Who God is and all He has said.”
In this often-dark world, Faith…in God, through Christ…is like a beacon, a light to be followed. Sometimes that light is a blazing fire. Sometimes it is a small dot along a distant horizon. But you don’t own it or produce it. You follow it, everyday!
