Hurrying Through the Day
…by Sue Hunt McGee
Yesterday I misplaced my car keys which made me hustling to get to work on time. In the evening I misplaced my phone and it took me ages to find it.
I realised it had been a long time since I had misplaced anything. There was a time when this happened on a regular basis.
I have intentionally slowed down over the past few years, creating space and breathing room for God’s peace. I have been learning the value of rest and the empowerment that comes by saying “No” to the things that are not right for me.
Be true to the gentle and humble in heart…
I have learned that any “Yes” that says “No” to my truth and my heart is most likely what I now call an “Ungodly Yes”. A “Holy Yes” will be honouring. Not always easy, but always respectful of my boundaries and my truth.
So, misplacing things is a big Red Flag for me. It is my marker that I need to slow down and centre myself.
Breathe. Rest. Listen. Honour. I cannot do rushing around well. It’s not who I am, it never was.
…and you will find rest for your souls. 1
I hope this helps someone who is misplacing things, or running from pillar to post. Take time to centre yourself today.
God bless your scheduling and give you courage to only speak a “Holy Yes” that honours your heart and your boundaries.
Have a wonderful day.
Sue
