Build Up
What does it mean to “Build Others Up”? Well, if you ask Google….Building others up means, “to edify, encourage, and uplift them so they will be strengthened inwardly to persevere despite difficulty.”
Sounds admirable, and we can all benefit from a dose of that. So how do we do it? If you were to ask me, I’d say, for starters….Simply acknowledging someone else can go a very long way.
Holding a door open. A smile and Good morning. Complimenting someone. Man, that is a good looking jacket. Love those shoes. You look sharp today. Go ahead of me. Maybe go old school and drop someone a hand-written note in the mail. People love those.
Everyone is carrying a burden.
The list of possibilities is endless and most cost us nothing. It might even be more important and have a greater impact than you think…or can even imagine.
I say that because literally everyone you pass today, including me, is carrying “something” they wish they could just put down and walk away from. Everyone. Every single person you will pass today, tomorrow, and forever, has an unseen or unspoken burden.
So with that in mind, and with everyone being a prospect…build each other up! Better yet, build each other up in Christ, towards Christ, and know this…
Ask and God will carry yours.
Whatever you are carrying around today, know that God loves you individually and completely. And He will help you carry it…if you will just ask Him. Seriously, even if you made the mess, just ask Him.
And if you don’t know how to ask Him, say, “Lord I don’t know how to ask you for help, or how to trust you to help me. Please show me. Build me up to tackle this. Show me how to do my part.” There are no wrong words when spoken from a sincere heart.
The bonus round is that when you build others up, you will also be built up in the process. Don’t overthink it…just do it. And “Arrive Expectantly” at church. There is a message, a blessing, a spiritual refreshing, and a “building up” just waiting for you, but…you gotta go get it!
